POSITION SUMMARY

This role is responsible for leading Almita’s Project Management team with planning and directing all aspects related to the management of the company’s projects. This role ensures all manufacturing and installation projects hit their targets related to schedule and budget. This is a pivotal management role that requires cooridination with a variety of external and internal stakeholders, suppliers, contractors and vendors to successfully stay on target. This role is focused on strategy, process, and coaching, though there is also a hands-on, tactical component. 

Location: Edmonton, AB.

Work Environment: Office, Field (travel will be required)

Wage: Commensurate based on Education and Experience

ACCOUNTABILITIES

Leadership

  • Provide strategic and tactical leadership to the project management team, clearly communicating corporate goals and performance expectations
  • Assign projects to individual project teams
  • Assist in identifying required resources for project success
  • Review client contract’s terms and conditions, ensure Almita is in agreement, modify, or take exception
  • Initiate recommendations for project execution, including suggestions for procurement and tendering strategies and workforce planning
  • Perform regular project reviews
  • Assist with the preparation of budgets
  • Lead investigations of any issues that arise during project execution
  • Monitor budget status and construction schedules for all projects
  • Ensure potential project risks are properly managed
  • Monitor, assess and report project progress to appropriate members of the Leadership Team
  • Oversee project close-out processes
  • Ensure the Project Management team is working to build efficiencies, improve processes, eliminate inefficiencies and follow LEAN principles
  • Develop, implement and refine project management processes, standards and specifications
  • Ensure that the Project Management team issues invoices on time and accurately
  • Ensure post-installation and close-out processes are completed in an orderly manner by the project management team
  • Attend client meetings with Project Managers to determine project requirements
  • Conduct regular audit reviews for compliance with Project Management Procedures
  • Build effective working relationships with manufacturing and procurement teams to ensure timely execution and delivery of materials to project sites
  • Oversee effective governance and compliance with legislation/regulations
  • Represent Almita Piling at industry events

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

The following are required:

  • Degree in engineering or management, or a related area
  • PMI Certification is an asset
  • 10+ years of experience in a Project Manager role managing mid to large scale construction projects (commercial, retail and industrial)
  • 5+ years’ experience in a management/supervisory role
  • Knowledge of construction terms, scheduling and planning concepts, engineering drawings, contracts, change control and document control
  • Advanced Microsoft Office Skills (MS Project, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
