The Director, Project Services is responsible for leading Almita’s Project Services team (Engineering, Estimating, Project Management), with all aspects related to the life cycle of the company’s projects.

This role ensures alignment between the project services team, and operations teams to appropriately design, build and execute projects effectively.  This is a pivotal leadership role with a focus on strategy, process, and coaching, though there is also a hands-on, tactical component. 


  • Provide strategic and tactical leadership to the project services teams, clearly communicating corporate goals and performance expectations
  • Develop, implement and refine departmental processes, standards and specifications
  • Act as a mentor to members of the project services team
  • Assign projects to individual project teams
  • Assist in identifying required resources for project success
  • Attend client meetings with Sales to determine project requirements
  • Perform regular project reviews
  • Monitor, assess and report project progress to appropriate members of the Leadership Team
  • Assist with the preparation of budgets
  • Initiate recommendations for project execution, including suggestions for procurement and tendering strategies and workforce planning
  • Conduct regular audit reviews for compliance with departmental procedures
  • Lead investigations of any issues that arise during project execution
  • Ensure the Project Services team is working to build efficiencies, improve processes, eliminate inefficiencies and follow LEAN principles
  • Oversee preparation of progress reports and present to the Leadership Team
  • Monitor budget status and construction schedules for all projects
  • Ensure potential project risks are properly managed
  • Build effective working relationships with manufacturing and procurement teams to ensure timely execution and delivery of materials to project sites
  • Ensure post-installation and close-out processes are completed in an orderly manner by the project management team
  • Oversee effective governance and compliance with legislation/regulations

The following are required:

  • 10+ years of experience in a Project Manager. Or Sr. Engineering role managing mid to large scale construction projects (commercial, retail and industrial)
  • 5+ years’ experience in a management/supervisory role of multi-member teams.
  • Knowledge of construction terms, scheduling and planning concepts, engineering drawings, contracts, change control and document control
  • Advanced Microsoft Office Skills (MS Project, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

The following would be an asset:

  • Degree in Engineering (Civil or Structural is preferred)
  • PMI Certification is an asset
