The Director, IT is charged with developing and implementing strategies for the organization’s information technology services function, ensuring that technology is used effectively in support of the organization’s strategic goals and objectives.

The Director, IT plays a key role in directing all IT related strategic, technical and management initiatives, and communicating plans and results with leadership.  The Director, IT is also responsible for all technology and software related purchases, IT-related projects and supervision of the IT team.


IT Leadership, Strategy and Planning

  • Direct and manage the information technology strategic plans, policies, and procedures
  • Direct and manage IT programs and resources to accomplish organizational goals and objectives in a cost-effective manner that provides demonstrable return on investment
  • Identify emerging information technologies to be assimilated, integrated, and introduced within the organization to gain competitive advantages
  • Establish, monitor and report on Key Performance Indicators

Policy and Governance

  • Develop and establish information security policies and procedures for protecting vital business and customer information according to best practice standards and regulations
  • Develop and establish a governing model to guide the process for evaluating, directing and monitoring of technology initiatives

Program and Project Management

  • Facilitate the governance and prioritization of IT-related projects
  • Direct and organize IT-related projects
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to support business operations with technology
  • Oversee the development, design, and implementation of new applications and changes to existing computer systems and software packages

Operational Management

  • Direct the delivery of all IT services including: management of the IT infrastructure, communications , website, network and data security, asset management, vendor management and user support
  • Lead and mentor technology professionals in their day-to-day activities, including: coaching, motivating, hiring, training, development and evaluation of team
  • Manage departmental budget
  • Oversee vendor contract negotiations for all new computer equipment and software purchased or built for the corporation
  • Manage 3rd party service providers
  • Responsible for the development, review and certification of all back-up and disaster recovery procedures and plans

The following are required:

  • 10+ year’s work experience in IT infrastructure
  • 5+ years leadership experience directing technology operations
  • Understanding of legislative frameworks for privacy, procurement, information management and security
  • Understanding of and experience with Software Development Life Cycles and software development methodologies
  • Proven experience in IT and corporate-wide strategic planning and budgetary responsibility
  • Verifiable track record of effective leadership which includes strong strategic thinking and successful execution with technical and intellectual resources
  • Knowledge of business theory, process improvement, management, and budgeting
  • Experience managing information systems in multiple geographic locations
